Promote your event!
  • So while I was going around YouTube and wasting my life away watching videos, I came across the SMASH! 2010 trailer (which I will ashamedly admit I did not see till like a few days back), and seeing the hilarity of it, thought of an idea.

What if all the events that are currently happening at SMASH! had their own promo vid? Some people would only go to a con just to see a certain event, however, whether its worth their money just to see it. How about we all make it interesting and make something like this? :D I'd be happy to do it for my event, the AMV comp. :P It can just be a nice 30 sec vid for it. And then you can just show it all over the net, from FB to forums, twitter, blogs, anywhere!

This idea came to me also after watching the advertisments made by fans for the Hyundai A-league Soccer/Football competition where each team got their own ad.

I love this idea (love the idea of shooting commercials) :)

  • It is a great idea! It could be like these scripts for example:

    Cosplay:
Some person could be making a cosplay for SMASH! only to realise that he/she made it the wrong way due to the extreme excitement of the event coming closer and closer every day.

    Art:
Some newbie draws a nice artwork, only to see the person next him/her draw a better one for the SMASH! competition. And the newbie gets jealous and trains his/her art skill for SMASH! with Eye of the Tiger in the background.

    AMV (My department!):
A person works many sleepless nights to get his/her AMV done, and finishes it one day after the due date and ends in disappointment. This is a dark humour play on AMVers who rush in the last minute to get the AMV done. In other words, I intend to start this comp early. :P

    Maid Cafe:
A girl could be training on how to become a Maid, with lots of humourous plays like how to say "Welcome back master!" or How to bow. Think of it like a video on the do's and dont's of becoming a Maid.

    Vendors:
A boy from America is writing his Winter Xmas wish list for Santa of the Anime/Manga stuff he wants, but then his friend comes in and says "Why don't you just go to Australia where its Winter and buy at the SMASH! convention?" Boy says: "I got no money." Tagline appears and says "SMASH! 2011. An Anime fan's shopping dream and nightmare." Dream = All the stuff you want. Nightmare = Money is gone.

Of course there are many events and other aspects of the event out there, and many ways you can do an ad (its not compulsory at least but go for it organisers! :P), but this is how my imagination sees it! XD

If I feel like it, I may make a fan trailer to promote SMASH! 2011 lol

Eye of the Tiger is never a bad idea.
